This is an example of a multiple process part.  We developed hard tooling to stamp the worm shape in the sheet metal surface.  We then developed a flat pattern which would initially be cut out of shape, but then when struck by the hard die, its edges would draw into the customers tolerance range.  Lastly the three tabs are formed with a brake press to complete the part.

This customer had a plastic component which needed 4 additional vent holes cut into it.  They did not have enough time to have their injection mold tooling reworked, and needed the parts cut ASAP.  They had tried using punches and water jetting prior to coming to us.  Both of these processes deformed the plastic too much for good results.  We used a 5-axis laser for this task, which is a non contact cutting method, and has the advantage of not moving a delicate lightweight part such as this.
